OPEN LETTER TO RAMESH KUMAR HEALTH MINISTER !
- Updated: September 21, 2016
* An open letter to Mr.Ramesh Kumar, health and family welfare minister, Karnataka
I wish you visit Udupi too. today you have lashed out at private hospitals in Mangalore saying they do lot of unethical things. i am happy about your concern. you have also said people criticise politicians and early morning go to their house asking help for seat to their children..
yes, you are talking sense. but who is responsible for this situation.. your thoughts and actions do not seem to be in unision… you criticise privates and invite corporates to run a “mediocre” but definitely” not bad” setup at Udupi… just because your health secretary feels there is no money to expand the present setup.do you expect the privates to serve people… making investment to tune of two hundred crores ?.if government doesn’t have money and government doesn’t improve the care in district hospitals.. should the poor be allowed to die ?
See Udupi district hospital where monthly around 270 deliveries take place. there are only two doctors and eight nurses…and now if the privates build two hundred beds.. can you atleast get six doctors and twenty four nurses..is it possible ? can you upgrade the hospital.. it looks a distant possibility.. please consult some good experts.. especially interested in public health .. improve our hospitals..then you can lash out at private..
I as a child had the opportunity to observe you closely ..in your headquarters chinthamani..we used to think you would make it big one day and would be an ideal minister..
please understand that government needs 2000 specialists and 2500 mbbs doctors… try to attract them to public service.. then you can blame the privates..today health in India remains healthy compared to our many Asian counterparts because of many charitable NGO ‘s and dedicated government staff in our phc ‘s and taluka and district headquarters you are a wise leader, capable of pulling up the government hospitals , do it..you have exactly two years to go. I apologize for my arrogance.but really feel hurt when I see someone I adored as a child..wasting a God given opportunity.
